Why the New Name?

We have officially changed the name of the Northumberland County EXPO to the Northumberland County FAIR.
This was done because "EXPO" meant different things to different people.

There are no changes to what we are or what we do. We hope that this will avoid some of the confusion.
We are still the County Fair!

There are also some changes to the animal shows.
The Horse Shows will be expanded. We WILL be having goat shows,
however, there will be no American Dairy Goat Association sanctioned goat shows this year.

The special baking contests have been expanded and will be open to all residents of the state. These include the Hershey Foods sponsored chocolate cake contest for adults and the chocolate chip cookie, brownie or bar contest open to youth under 19. There will also be a Blue Ribbon Apple Pie contest for all types of apple pie. Pies must contain at least 60% apples, but may include other fruit ingredients. Use your imagination, creativeness is encouraged. Another contest is the Angel Food Cake Contest, sponsored by Pennsylvania Egg Quality Assurance program (PEQAP). This latter contest requires the symbol from the egg carton to be included with the entry. Weis Markets brand of eggs have this symbol on most cartons. There are two other contests that are local for this fair only. A Greatest Shoofly Pie and an Upside Down Cake, in either pineapple or apple top off the list of baking contests. We hope that there are a lot of entries.

We know that there are a lot of very good cooks in this area and this is a chance to show what you can do.

Winners of all the above baking contests will be certified to the State Farm Show contest in January of 2011, which are state-wide contests. You must be a winner in a county fair to enter the State Farm Show contests. All entries must include the recipe used. All entries become the property of the fair and after official judging portions of the entries will be available for "mock judging", a chance for anyone to sample the goods and judge them by your own standards and compare to the official judging. Some portions of entries will be available for sale on Thursday evening at 6:00PM.

Other games, contests and displays including a Farmers Triathlon, tractor driving, bale stacking and bale throwing will be held at various times. These contests are open to everyone and will be grouped by age.

There will be entertainment, many exhibits from area businesses and groups. Come join with us for a great entertaining, educational time, and of course good foods.

This is a FREE fair and there is NO CHARGE for parking.
There will be plenty of parking space in the Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church lot adjacent to the Armory grounds.
